Thousands of Dollars have been raised and given out to so many worthy ventures such as the Shad Derby Festival, Kidsafe (child abuse prevention center), the National Honor Society awards, among many other contributions to help the youth in our community. This year the Exchange Club is especially proud to provide $7,000 in scholarships to graduating senior class members from Windsor including Joshua Weirs receiving The Jack Shaughnessey Scholarship, Jay Nunes receiving The Bob Field Scholarship, and five other scholarship recipients: Shaun Smith, Nicole Bilodeau, Isaiah Townsend and Erin Curley. In addition, the Exchange Club provides an A.C.E. scholarship, selected by the Windsor High School counseling department. The A.C.E. Scholarship recipient this year was awarded to Bianca Benjamin. In 2013 we also honored Windsor's Finest - Police Officer of the Year, Officer Tom Messina, and Windsor's Bravest - Firefighter of the Year, Lt. Dennis Guay, in addition tp many other community awareness projects. As tne Exchange Club enters into its 72nd consecutive year of giving, the members work throughout the year on fundraising projects such as the Shad Derby Festival Kick-Off fundraiser held at the Hooker Brewery, the Oktoberfest for Scholarships Beer & Wine Tasting and the Windsor Directory (the annual town wide telephone book). The club consists of men and women business leaders and owners living in and around Windsor, who meet twice a month from fall through spring strategizing ways to enhance community projects and activities. |
